ST. PETER AND ST. PAUL, WOLVERHAMPTON
The Roman Catholic Church of St Peter and St Paul of 1826-8 was designed by Joseph Ireland in a Greek Revival style. It originated from the former chapel to Giffard House, which was built by the Roman Catholic Giffard family in the late 16th century/ early 17th century. Bishop Milner, a prominent figure in early 19th Century Roman Catholic emancipation in England, is buried in the crypt.
Stephen Oliver was appointed as Inspecting Architect, and has carried out Quinnquennial Inspections of the church and associated buildings. We have also led projects to repair the lantern, the entrance ramp and other high-level external repairs.
