MAGDALEN COLLEGE, OXFORD
Magdalen College was founded in 1458 by William Wayneflete, Bishop of Winchester and Lord Chancellor of England. Building began in 1467, under William Orchard as master mason. The result has been described by Pevsner as “the ideal college”.
Stephen Oliver first worked for the College in 1995 as a student on the new Squash Courts for Demetri Porphyrios, and we have recently completed a Feasibility Study on potential alterations here. We have completely refurbished an early 19th century town house which forms student accommodation for the College, and we have replaced the railings to the riverside terrace in new hand-forged steel. We are upgrading a range of cottages for student use with new bathrooms and new lime render externally. We are carrying out a quinquennial inspection of the whole college.
