DORE ABBEY, HEREFORDSHIRE

Picture
A Cistercian monastery, Dore Abbey was founded by Robert Fitz Harold of Ewyas about 1147 and the main complex of buildings was erected between the mid-12th century and 1210. After falling into ruins after the Reformation, the church was restored in 1633 for John Viscount Scudemore. The church is a Grade I listed building and remains in use today.

Oliver Architecture were appointed Abbey architects in 2019. We led the project to reroof the North Chapel in sandstone tiles, and are working on a feasibility study for a new extension within the footprint of the ruined Sacristy.
